GROOTVOET
When running TR3X6G1600C8D at 1600mhz, memtest86 and windows taskmanager recognize only 2gb or 4gb instead of 6gb. Something odd is that sometimes 2gb is recognized and other times 4gb :sigh!: CPU-Z lists all 6gb. When using default 1066mhz everthing is allright. (even with 2x memtest86) This howto Gigabyte EX58-EXTREME BIOS Settings for TR3X3G1600C8D and TR3X6G1600C8D http://www.asktheramguy.com/v3/showthread.php?t=76751 didn't solve the problem either I raised the QPI voltage in steps untill 1.300V. Checklist of other things I tried: -latest bios f6 -memorybanks in the right memory slots -tried differently setups with 1, 2 and 3 banks -New install 64 bit os I don't think it's a defect memorybank or a cpu pin misalignment because it works on 1066mhz. What could be wrong?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 20, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 20, 2009 Test all of the modules one at a time to make sure one is not failing and if they all pass then test one of the modules in every slot top make sure there is not a problem with one of the slots. if that all works them make sure you have the latest BIOS and then load setup defaults and enable XMP should be all you need to do. Test with http://www.memtest.org.
GROOTVOET
Test all of the modules one at a time to make sure one is not failing You mean to test one module at a time with memtest86+ v2.11 at XMP 1600 speed? and if they all pass then test one of the modules in every slot top make sure there is not a problem with one of the slots. If the total 6gb work at 1066mhz, with 2 full memtest86+ v2.11 tests, how can a memoryslot be the problem? if that all works them make sure you have the latest BIOS and then load setup defaults and enable XMP should be all you need to do. Test with http://www.memtest.org. Like I wrote, I use the latest bios version F6. And after a fresh biosflash, I used the setup defaults with only XMP on! Please help. I'm stuck here
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 21, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 21, 2009 What were the results when you tested them one at a time? And did you test one module in every slot?
GROOTVOET
What were the results when you tested them one at a time? And did you test one module in every slot? I tested them one at a time in slot 1. This time I used some post-it to label them. The last one didn't boot at 1600mhz  The same module works fine at 1066mhz Probably I overlooked in the past the defect one, because I didn't label them. Thanx a lot! :)

Yellowbeard
Let's get them both replaced. Actually, you will need to return all 3 modules, so that you get a matched and tested trio of modules. ;):
