eyes.only
Just received my brandnew asus p6t(plain) with i920 cpu. For mem I got tr3x6g1600c8d (3x) modules. There seems to be a problem. At first boot, nothing After removing the third module(3d orange slot) it booted. Tried some different configs (mixing the modules, tried 1,2 modules). Seems the 3 modules work, but not all three at a time. Updated already to the latest bios, but this also didn't help. Tried the xmp profile, raised the qpi to 1,35 and the dram voltage to 1.66 and set the memory to 1066, but no luck whatsoever. Any thoughts?:[pouts:
DerekT
If the modules all pass singly, then I would look to the CPU or motherboard. Let's try a hard reset. Perform a hard reset to clear any BIOS stack corruption issues. Shut the system downInsert a single memory stick in slot 2Remove the power cordRemove the CMOS BatterySet the CMOS_CLR Jumper to OnPress the power button for 10 secondsLet sit for 10 minutesSet the CMOS_CLR Jumper to OffInsert the CMOS BatteryInsert the Power CordRestart the systemEnter the BIOSLoad Default SettingsSave Default Settings Enter your BIOS and set to these values: AI Overclock Tweaker Ai Overclock Tuner = X.M.P. CPU Ratio Setting = Auto BCLK Frequency = 133 PCI-e Frequency = 100 DRAM Frequency = DDR2-1600 All Else to Auto Voltages CPU Voltage = Auto CPU Pll Voltage = Auto QPI/DRAM Voltage = As set by XMP IOH Voltage = Auto IOH PCIe Voltage = Auto ICH Voltage = Auto ICH PCIe Voltage = Auto DRAM Bus Voltage = 1.65v Advanced -> CPU Configuration CPU Ratio Setting: Auto C1E Support: Enable Hardware Prefetch: Enable Adjacent Cache Line Prefetch: Enable Intel Virtualization Tech: Enable CPU TM Function: Enable Execute Disable Bit: Enable Intel HT Technology: Enable Active Processors: All A20M: Disable Intel C-State Technology: Enabled C-State = C7Shut your system down, boot to the Memtest CD and allow for two full passes. Shut the system down, insert a second stick in slot 4 and retest. Finally, shut the system down, insert the last stick in slot 6 and repeat Memtest. Then, if stable, enter Windows and post screenshots of the CPU-z CPU, Memory and SPD tabs. Results? Just received my brandnew asus p6t(plain) with i920 cpu. For mem I got tr3x6g1600c8d (3x) modules. eyes.only
thanks fore reply DerekT. Tried it according to your advice, but without any luck. I do have it working with the 3 modules in port 2,3 and 4. So 2 orange ports and 1 black port. Seems to see the 6gig in totall, but states "dual channel" in memtest. Any other suggestions? eyes.only
You won't believe it. I took out the cpu and discovered with a looking glass that 1 pin inside the socket looked strange. After looking at some pictures on the internet I decided to bend it by myself and tried it. Eureka, problem solved:D:
DerekT
I will believe it as I have seen this happen with X58. I believe that many RMA's for the above issue are related to a socket that does not fit as tightly as the Core 2. You won't believe it.
