Karl Valentin
Not frequently but have been suffering bsod for a while.. Last week, i added second (2x2) memory and now i have 8 gb(4x2) memory in my system. i guess watching something(xvid with windows media player or even youtube) trigger bsod.. First time i built my system with 4 gb ram and i set bios 1333mhz memory and 1.8v memory voltage.. After last bsod i increased nb voltage 1.33 to 1.53 .. I'm not sure it's necessary or not.. i also added my minidump.. Last thing i also use kaspersky internet security 2009..Mini041609-01.zip
DerekT
I have had this board and have found that these boards do not like 128M x 16 = 2GB modules. They do very well with 64M X 16 = 1GB modules though. http://vip.asus.com/forum/topic.aspx?elitepost=0&SLanguage=en-us&board_id=1&model=Rampage%20Extreme&page_size=20&page=1&count=289 Research this site and you will see many of us complaining at this board and high capacity, high speed memory. You have to really increase the MCH voltage and you need VERY good cooling for the MCH so that it does not overheat. That's the reason why the watercooling MCH is given. Here's another site where you can get the lowdown on this board. It's fast. At 1333Mhz it is as fast as P5E3 at 1500Mhz. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=196683&highlight=Rampage+Extreme It's 87 pages but if you research this thread well and look at the amounts of memory and module capacities that people are using with this board, you will see. There's lot's of memory talk with this board.
Karl Valentin
thank you for valuable information DerekT.. I don't interest any kind of overclocking so is there any chance to use 4x2 memory with my mobos? i bought each TW3X4G1600C9DHX kit different time.. (old kit's version 3.2 and new version 1.2 -interesting isn't it :): ) should i use same version TW3X4G1600C9DHX memory kit for stability? i just got another bsod (first one 0x0000003B and one 0x0000001E) and it is making me annoyed! Finally could anyone tell me, for stability what do i set ddr speed (1066,1333 or lower) ddr voltage and nb voltage.. i just need stability, please help
Yellowbeard
Try 1.3v - 1.4v range on the memory controller. Also, set the memory to 1066. If it is stable at these settings you can try to clock the memory faster from there and regain some memory frequency.

After last bsod i increased nb voltage 1.33 to 1.53 .. Also WATCH OUT for your temps when you set to such a high voltage! You do not want more than 60C in temps on the MCH. Yellowbeard
The same version is the better bet.I overlooked that question. Good point Derek, the same version is always the best option.
