Bobtoshiba
Hello, I purchased an Intel Motherboard and I have a spare 2GB from a 4GB kit. The motherboard is D945GCLF2 MINI-ITX DDR2 945GC Dual Core Atom 330.The Corsair Memory is TWIN2X4096-6400C5 G. 800MHz Tested at JEDEC standard latency settings (5-5-5-18) at 1.9V, SPD programmed at JEDEC standard 5-5-5-18 values at 800MHz Note that the memory I have is ver. 3.2 and is listed at 1.80V. The memory Configurator recommends the following for D945GCLF (the D945GCLF2 is not listed): VS2GBKIT667D2, Memory Type, DDR2-667 (PC2-5300), Size 2GB Kit (2 x 1GB), Latency 5-5-5-15, Voltage 1.8V Maximum Memory » 2GB, Expansion Slots » 1, Chipset » Intel 945G Chipset (Value). Of course there is only one slot on this Mini-ITX motherboard, so I would prefer to use the one 2GB stick. My question is: Would I be able to reliably use the 2GB 6400C5 memory in this Motherboard? Thanks for your help.
DerekT
Your board will support a 2GB Value Select module such as: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145180&Tpk=VS2GB667D2 for $19.99 Hello, I purchased an Intel Motherboard and I have a spare 2GB from a 4GB kit. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 14, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 14, 2009 You can try the module you have it may work my guess is that it will work as they will run at DDR667 but it will really depend on the MB. If it was a Retail Box MB then 90% it will work if it was in an OEM system like Dell or Gateway I would say it is a 90% chance it will not work. Bobtoshiba
Thanks for the reply. I was hoping to build the PC and not have to buy additional RAM. I have found a few sources that state this speed of RAM may be compatible but there is nothing specific from Corsair. I found other manufacturer RAM with this speed and voltage is compatible (refer to part number KVR800D2N5/2G) and some others are listed at Intel's web site at this Link. http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d945gclf2/sb/CS-029532.htm I was hoping to get some clarification that I would be able to safely use the 6400C5 memory. Are there any settings that I would need to change in the BIOS to accommodate the Corsair RAM? Thanks, Bob
Bobtoshiba
Thanks you replied at the same time I posted. It is a retail Intel motherboard. I will try the RAM as long as nothing will be damaged and I will test it with memtest. Bob
