moogman79
Hi Guys its me again I will trash my Asus Striker 2 Extreme due crap chipset and instability issues. As stated in many threads this board sucks! The newest bug on my Striker 2... it reboots under full load *rofl* I get realy pissed off this board and the problems with the DDR3 ram. I am so happy with my new core I7 but i need a stabel board for my 2nd System. Now i will try a ultra cheap "noname" board. Following things will be used: ASRock X48TurboTwins TW3X4G1800C8DF Intel QX9650 P_N_Y- Gf9800GTX+ Adaptec 5405 Antec 650Watt PSU (Blue series bla bla bla.....) 2x WD RE3 1TB ESI-Juli@ What do you think? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 13, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 13, 2009 I doubt that MB will be able to run the memory much past DDR1333 but you are welcome to try it. Personally I would see if the MB Maker will replace the other MB from you.
moogman79
Well, i don´t want to try anymore. Ram Guy wich board is good for that ram? I will not RMA the Striker 2 Extreme cause the board is okay, but the chipset is a crap, many guys have problems with that board.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 14, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 14, 2009 The Striker 2 MB should be fine with these modules just that running any MB at DDR1866 is a big O.C. Or Gigabyte offers some decent MB's do a search for the modules part number with the key word reviews and see what the reviewers were using. moogman79
Did your Board run stabel ? Mine not..... I runs almost but i got sometimes the windows error: Could not read or write from Address xxxxxxxxx (I have translated the error message from german to english) Any Idea? I have NOT installed the memmory management driver: Ram Voltage 1.80 (in bios) that results in 1.84 NB is on 1.5 Volt the rest is like stated in the datasheet... Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 15, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 15, 2009 Have you ran http://www.memtest.org and you will need to install the Chipset drivers.
moogman79
i have checked the memory with memtest86+ from memtest.org At 1.76 Volt at 1778 Mhz no error i can push the clock up to 1909 Mhz if i lift the voltage of the NB to 1.55 Volt and the Ram to 1.85... memtest ran 3 complete passes without error. But at 1909Mhz windows will not start.... thats okay its completly overclockt memory.... At 1777 Mhz 8-8-8-24 at 1.76 Volt it works almost, .... I think this is not the fault of corsair its the chipset / mainboard design Should i try to solder additional cpacitators near the ddr voltage regulation circruit? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 16, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 16, 2009 I would not go over 1.65 Volts on X58 chipsets, but you can try what ever you like and I cannot comment on doing mods to the MB. Try them at 1.65 Volts with the memory frequency set at DDR1600 and see if it will pass http://www.memtest.org.

moogman79
Hi, i get no luck! I get still the errors in windows (Memory address can not be Read or Writen) As you know i have also tried: Corsair XMS3 with 1333 (TW3X4G1333C9) -> System Freezes after about 30 minutes Corsair XMS3 with 1600 (TW3X4G1600??) -> System Freezes after about 30 mintues Corsair Dominator with 1800 -> runs but with some errors Don´t forgett i have also tried a MSI P7N2 Diamond wich shows the same errors What do you think ... should i RMA the RAM / CPU or BOARD.... or trash these components and buy a second Core I7 ? I am not shure if the CPU is okay, but with the most testtools like prime95 its okay.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 23, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 23, 2009 Corsair XMS3 with 1333 (TW3X4G1333C9) -> System Freezes after about 30 minutes Corsair XMS3 with 1600 (TW3X4G1600??) -> System Freezes after about 30 mintues Corsair Dominator with 1800 -> runs but with some errors This would suggest it is not the memory causing the problem, can someone help you test the CPU in another MB?
