bootsy
Hi all, i found i had a slight buzzing only when you get the blank screens in 3d mark 2006 and Vantage and it was not very loud but i could hear it, i found it was coming from the psu and the graphics card, the psu buzz being a little higher in volume. After some messing about i found the audio cable from my cd drives would affect the pitch so i removed them as i can still get audio ok without them, all my cables are tied with cable ties and i got a ferrite rod about 6 inches long and put in the middle of the cables no more buzzing from the graphics card or the psu.Not sure why it works but it does for me so thought i would share. Please note that all the cables are held against the ferrite rod very tight with cable ties (they should be wound arround the rod). You can get a ferrite rod out of a old radio or local electronics shop. I have used this on a friends that had awful buzzing when gaming but his was only coming from the graphics card none from psu but did same on his buzzing can be heard with ear up to graphics card but not when side panel on. ACKnowledge
I have a high pitched buzzing as well, just coming from the PSU. Whats weird is that when I scroll or move any window the buzzing changes pitch. This problem started when I switched out a radeon 4870 with a 4890 (a more power hungry card) and haven't found a solution yet. I don't have wires grouped like you do, so thats not going to work for me...poop!
bootsy
Hi ACknowledge, i have just done another friends he had buzzing from psu and graphics card, my local electronics store had run out of rods but had ferrite rings tried four of those and that sorted it, i did try just putting them on the 2 6 pin power feeds for the graphics card but that did not do it had to use them on all the cables. You say your cables are not grouped but you can put a rod in up near the psu where they are prob together. While playing around with mine i found that by pulling the ferrite rod in and out u could get a tune on the buzz, pushing it in fully noise gone.
