GrefTek
Hi, In the past I bought a pair of Corsair XMS DDR400 512 modules. After some tinkering and input from mr Ram guy I got them to work on 2-3-3-6 on my Asus P4PE mainboard. (yes, I know... ancient) I recently acquired some extra memory in the form of Corsair ValueRAM DDR400 512MB to bridge the few months before I can get a new system. Unfortunately I cannot get it to work. My computer powers up but never goes into POST. I've tried several things, inclusing switching the timings back to SPD, putting the ValueRAM in the first slot and what not. Is it possible to get these two types of modules to co-exist peacefully? Or am I going to send one of them to the corner?
DerekT
I doubt if you will easily make the high end memory work with value memory. You need to insert a single stick of memory that allows you to boot. Set the memory speed to 333Mhz and the timings to 3-3-3-7. Set the DRAM voltage to 2.8v. If you have northbridge voltage settings, then a light raise of +.1v should suffice. GrefTek
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately (for me) I already found out what the most likely problem is. Apprently the mainboard I have (the P4PE) only supports either 2 double-sided DIMMs or 3 single-sided ones.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 8, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 8, 2009 Actually with that MB you can only use 2 ranks at full speed with more then three ranks (IE One double rank and one single Rank) DDR333 would be suggested.
