Dr. Echo
Hello: RAM Guy, I'm Running 2 GB of CM2X1024-8500C5 on an EVGA nForce 590 SLI Motherboard But on the Stick Itself I Noticed it Say's XMS8505v1.3 Although I Have Kept it Running @ 2.1v for Alomst 2 Years But Recently I Have Begun Failing to Post. Motherboard Displays a C1 Error Code on the LED's. I Checked the EVGA Forums and Discovered that This is a Memory Error. I was Wondering if They Failed Due to Voltage Settings or if It's Just Because They're Old. I Started having this Issue Only Recently the Past 3 Days. So I Started Switching Modules Out and 1 of Them Won't Post the Other Does So I'm Currently running w/ 1 Stick in (1GB) and have Started an RMA w/ Corsair. When I get the New Modules (I Hope, RMA Hasn't been Resolved Yet) Should I set the Voltage to 2.1v or 1.3v or Something in Between? P.S. My Detailed Spec's are in My Profile. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 31, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 31, 2009 Please make sure that you have the latest bios and load setup defaults and then set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org to be sure one is not failing. If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
Wired
It's v1.3, not 1.3v. The former means VERSION 1.3, the latter means 1.3 volts.
Dr. Echo
Updated Bio's, Set Voltages to 2.1, Timings to 5-5-5-15. I Ran Memtest on 1 Stick (Let's Call it Stick "A") 3 Pass's 0 Errors in Dimm 1. Removed Stick "A". Inserted 2nd Stick (Stick "B") in to Dimm 1 Powered Up. Screen Stays Black and Computer Beeps 1 Long Beep Pauses then Repeats, EVGA 590 AM2 Socket Motherboard LED's Reading out a "C1" Error Code (Memory Error). Memtest will not Run on Stick "B" as System will not even Post the Bio's Screen. I am Requesting an RMA on This Stick of Memory CM2X1024-8500C5 XMS8505v1.3 Thank You in Advance for Your Cooperation.
