igus
I have 2 set of twins set 1 is CM2X1024-8500C5D and set 2 is CM2X2048-8500C5DF Either set works fine with the correct timings of 5-5-5-15 2t vol 2.1 @ 1066 However Both sets togather cause radom freeze or even shut-downs. I would like to run the whole 6 gig All other bios settings are at auto, no oc on cpu, latest bios ver
Yellowbeard
In some cases you cannot mix 2 different versions of memory. Can you please list ALL of the information from the stickers on each kit. Most likely you are going to need to raise the memory controller voltage to accomodate the load of 4 modules. My 650i board, the predecessor to the 750i needed 1.53 volts to be stable 4 up at DDR800+. AN806 may be good reading also: http://www.corsairmemory.com/appnotes/default.aspx Keep in mind that due to the limitations of the memory controller you may not be able to run 4 up at 1066. DerekT
If this doesn't work, drop the memory speed to 800Mhz. Download Memtest86+ Version 2.11 from ---> Hereand extract the ISO image. Burn the ISO image to an CD-ROM disk. Download CPU-z from --> Here Enter your BIOS. Load Setup Defaults. Save Setup Defaults. Set to these values:
Advanced JumperFree Configuration AI Tuning = Manual System Clocks NB PCI-E Frequency = 100 DRAM Voltage = 2.1v HT Voltage = 1.22v NB Chipset Voltage = 1.40v FSB & Memory Config FSB - Memory Clock Mode = Unlinked FSB - Memory Ratio = 2:3 FSB (QDR) = 1333 Chipset Memory Timing Setting tCL = 5 tRCD = 5 tRP = 5 tRAS = 15 Command Per Clock = 2T Advanced Memory Settings are all to be set on Auto
Run Memtest for two full passes. When assured of stable DRAM, then enter Windows and Run CPU-z and post screenshots of CPU-z's CPU, Memory and SPD tabs.
Yellowbeard
full stickers CM2X1024-8500C5D / XMS2-8500 1024MB / 1066MHz / 5-5-5-15 / 2.10V / ver4.1 08480076 CM2X2048-8500C5D / XMS2-8500 2048MB / 1066MHz / 5-5-5-15 / 2.10V / ver2.1 09060121 If the settings I put up and/or the settings Derek posted don't gain stability, you may simply have a combination of memory you cannot run together. You are mixing 2 different revisions which in some cases can be problematic.
igus
So far... Changed settings as DerekT said (with exception of mem ratio) and it was stable at 800 and then at 1066 passing memtest 2x. The only thing different from DerekT's is that with the FSB unlinked you cant change the memory ratio.....you can only change it linked. I know what alot of the abreviations are like NB, SB FSB ect but some I dont know...is there a good reference site for BIOS work? I would like to learn more. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted March 30, 2009 Corsair Employee Share Posted March 30, 2009 With 4 modules DDR667 or DDR800 would be suggested but if its stable you should be fine.
DerekT
Google the settings and research. That's the best route for me.
