Leganfuh
Will the CMPSU-1000HX PSU support (4) GTX 295's? Yellowbeard
No, I would not suggest connecting a system with 4 x 295s to an HX-1000 or any single computer PSU. First, no PSU is going to have enough connectors. These cards are rated at approximately 285w at max load. So, with the rest of the system I don't know of any single PSU that is actually capable of running 4 of these at load based on the specifications. Is there a MOBO that has enough slots and room to run 4 295s? Is this folding rig or what?
Leganfuh
Yes, this is for 24/7 Folding only. The following parts are the foundation of the systems. (1) MSI K9A2 Platinum AM2+/AM2 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard (4) EVGA 017-P3-1291-AR GeForce GTX 295 1792MB Video Card (1) AMD Phenom II X4 940 Deneb 3.0GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core Black Edition Processor (1) CORSAIR Dominator 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory
Yellowbeard
I see the MOBO picture. Is there room for 4 dual slot cards? If your folding program will max the 295s, I'd suggest an HX-1000 for the primary system PSU and a TX-750 to run 2 of the 4 GPUs. Keep in mind that at full load, you are really going to be drawing some amperage. You may want to distribute this across 2 circuits in your home as most residential circuits are rated at 15a.
