dagimp16
I have a set of TR3X6G1866C7GTF on the way to put into a Rampage II Extreme. I have 3 temp probes with the mother board and would like to install them on these memory sticks. My questions are: where is the best place to install each probe on the sticks, how do i remove HS if needed, and what is the reccomended temperature range for these sticks? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 15, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 15, 2009 You cannot remove the heat sinks on our memory without damaging it and also voiding the warranty. The top cap is removable so you could likely install your probe there.
dagimp16
Would that location yeild an accurate reading? What about the temps of the sticks?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 15, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 15, 2009 You would not get an accurate reading of the IC temperature there. And, we don't publish an operating specification for the temperature of the modules as there are too many variables. Also, there are no temp sensors on the modules themselves so you will not get an accurate reading anyway. This temperature is dependent upon the actual IC used for that module and you'd need to check with the manufacturer of the IC for the operating temperature range.
