Need help with TR3X6G1866C9DF

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

Iam having a problem finding the best settings for my 3x2GB Dominator 1866Mhz, currenlty running at 1904mhz. I have the Asus P6T-deluxe bios v02.61 and running at 3.8GHZ manually oced with turbo mode on which effectively runs my cpu at 4,02ghz.

My memory is set at 1904Mhz Dram Frequency but when evethough it seems to be ok I get the blue ram screen failure errors randomly when in windows mostly if I use Prime95 or sometimes in gaming i.e in WOW.

Iam sure something is wrong with my ram settings which I find hard to get the best out of my system.

Ai Overclock - Manual

Cpu Ratio - auto

IntelR speedstep - Enabled

IntelR Turbo Mode - Enabled

BCLK Frequency - 190

PCIE Frequency - 100

DRAM Frequency - 1904

UCLK Frequency - 3809Mhz

QPI Link Data Rate - 6857MT/s

QPI/DRAM Core Voltage - 1.55

DRAM Bus Voltage - 1.66

and my DRAM Timing Control is

1st Info: 9-9-9-24-4-100-10-10-5-20

2nd Info: 2N-auto-auto-auto (2N-60-63-64)

3rd Info: all auto (6--6-19-10-10-10-7-6-4-7-7-7

Iam sure there is something wrong with my timings, In default condition or xmp there is no problem but at 3.8Ghz and 1904Mhz Ram speed Ive checked is optimum in terms of speed for both cpu and memory.

Could you please help with what would be the timmings of the particular ram for those settings

Thanks in advance, :!:

Let's be sure here.

Load setup defaults, save setup defaults, set to X.M.P. and then reboot. Then insert your BCLK overclock settings. Leave memory voltage and QPI voltage settings alone.

Download Memtest86+ V2.11 from--->

and extract the ISO image. Burn the ISO image to an CD-ROM disk. Run Memtest for two full passes.

Results?

Set to XMP and default ie. no CPU overclock. Set one stick to slot 2 and Memtest. Remove the stick and insert the second stick and Memtest. Do the same with the third stick.

If you pass, then drop the BCLK to gain 1866 on the memory and test with all sticks inserted in the second, fourth and sixth slots. (Orange slots).

Results?

at Pass 3% gave me the first error on Memetest. I did as u said first XMP then reboot then my cpu settings.

Please note my DRAM frequency now is 1904MHZ at 190 BLCK frequency.:sigh!:

Ok done all dimms passed the Memtest and working. Now I dropped the cpu frequency at 186 so as to get now DRAM speed @ 1864Mhz. Now it runs at 3.73Ghz@1864Mhz with XMP profile ON.

Memtest also passed here succesfully and works fine under those settings now but the final concern is like would it be possible to run it at BLOCK(190) i.e. 3.82Ghz@1904 stable.

I leave the speedstep ON so with the +1 multiplier I get like 4.0GHZ if Its left 3.82Ghz and @ 1904 Ram it anhilates the benchmarks in windows.

The difference is so minimal I would not worry about it personally. You have found stability. The memory runs well with 1866Mhz and you can continue to play with settings to see if you can get the differential you want.

There's no hard and fast ratios. It's not the memory that you need to work with. It's the CPU <--> Memory Controller <--> Memory ratio and stream that you need to work with.

These systems are far too new to have robust maturity yet and a few MHz increments can be the difference in stability. Two motherboards and CPU's of the same model and stepping can show one yielding stability and the other not.

Hopefully as new chipsets are released many of the inconsistencies will be smoothed out. I can't enter standby with my system. It works on the first standby and will not exit standby on the second standby. I also find a cold boot issue sometimes when I shut down.

Also, set your C-State to enable and C-7. This will lower your cache speed but increase your bandwidth speed even more and the difference is faster all around.

Ok just tested here again at 3.73@1864 XMP and speedstep on Ive lost some point in Santra but it seems its superstable now Prime95 and Memtest passed clean of errors smoothly. So I guess thats my optimal atm thks alot Derekt for your effort /appreciate :D

I had a girlfriend named Sandra. She lied to me as well. That's not a good program for testing the speed of your Memories.

Download Everest Trial Version from here -->

Install Everest and right click on the (i) icon in the system tray. Choose Tools --> Cache and Memory Benchmark. Run the Benchmark and post the finished screenshot.
