Memory for Gigabyte MA790X-UD4

I need some memory for this board. The closest match I can find on the Corsair site is the GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-DS4. Will the memory recommended for that board work on the -UD4 board too? I'm expecting delivery today of Dominator Series Twin2X4096-8500C5D, so I thought I'd check before I opened it. What do you think?

The AMD Phenom and Phenom II (DDR2) and Phenom II (DDR3) are known to have wonky memory controllers that do NOT function well with high end memories. I have had more issues with installing systems for these CPU's and chipsets when running with high end memories.

I have finally come to the conclusion that I will not advise any higher than 1333Mhz memory for DDR3 and Phenom II or 800Mhz memory for DDR2 and Phenom/Phenom II.

There's just too many chances that the configurations do not work and it is a waste of my system integration time to attempt to get (often with failure) the above hardware to run with the high end memories and believe me, as a systems integrator who comes here to help people, I have tried to enact success since I do NOT like to give up.

Unfortunately with the AMD memory controller in both Phenom and Phenom II I have been greatly unimpressed. Not that it isn't fast. In most cases, lower speed with tighter timings works better with this controller than higher speeds and higher timings (due to the high speed HT and the Integrated Memory Controller's (IMC) distance to the CPU.

Thanks for the reply Derek. I would have replied sooner but I was waiting to see what "the Ram Guy" was going to tell me, but I guess I'm not worthy. I'm sending back the previously mentioned ram and getting some 800MHz. I just want something that works without a bunch of horsing around with voltage settings and memory timings. I've just set up this new Gigabyte board after being tormented for the last 4 months by an Asus M2N32-SLI board (RMA-ing this weekend), so I like your reasoning & explanation of the AMD setup.

Sorry for missing your questions, and yes those modules will or should run great with either of the MB's you mentioned. However I have seen the same issue where the faster Phenom CPU's may not run DDR1066 memory. But I think most of this is the CPU and testing them at DDR800 should show a failing module.
