Hello RamGuy, So I don’t bombard you with lots of e-mails, I’m going to trying to knock this all out in one shot. I would like to narrow down the selection I have listed below to the correct memory for my current motherboard, which is (PC1600 & PC2100), but I also want to be able to upgrade to a newer motherboard in the future. This is why I have listed (PC2700 & PC3200). -----------------System Specs------------------- Abit KR7A-RAID AMD Athlon XP 1900+ KT266A Chipset -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------Here is what I pulled of the Owners Manual---------------- This motherboard provides four 184-pin DDR DIMM sites for memory expansion, PC1600 & PC2100 DDR SDRAM module. The DDR DIMM sockets support: 8 M x 64 (64 MB), 16 M x 64 (128 MB), 32 M x 64 (256 MB), 64 M x 64 (512 MB), and 128 M x 64 (1024 MB) or double density DDR DIMM modules. Minimum memory is 64 MB and the maximum memory is 3 GB (Unbuffered) or 3.5 GB (Registered) DDR SDRAM. There are four memory module sockets on the system board (for a total of eight banks). In order to create a memory array, following rules must be followed. ! For those modules, we suggest that you be populate DIMM1 to DIMM4 in order. ! Supports single and double density DDR DIMMS. ------------------------------ -The KR7A/KR7A-RAID does support ECC memory modules. It supports up to 3 GB of non-registered memory, or 4 GB of registered memory. The maximum DDR memory support of KR7A/KR7A-RAID is 3.5 GB rather than 4 GB. This limitation is caused by the PC architecture. The missing 0.5 G memory address is reserved for PCI I/O space, AGP aperture mapping space and other onboard device I/O space, so although the KT266A datasheet states that the memory support is up to 4 GB, the system only uses about 3.5 GB with four 1 GB DDR memory installed. In another words, BIOS and operating system will only report 3.5 GB. ------------------------------ - Memory Compatibility Issues for (KR7A/KR7A-RAID and other KT266A chipset board) According to the datasheet of VIA KT266A chipset (Revision 2.1, September 14, 2001), x 4 bit memory chip is not supported. Advanced High-Performance SDR/DDR DRAM Controller Supports 8 banks up to 4 GB DRAMs (512Mb x 8/x 16 DRAM technology) for registered SDR/DDR modules. Supports 6 banks up to 3 GB DRAMs (512Mb x 8/x 16 DRAM technology) for Unbuffered SDR/DDR modules. Most of the DDR memory 1GB modules available now consist of 64 M x 4 chip, which CANNOT be used on KR7A/KR7A-RAID motherboard. DDR 1 GB module made by 64 M x 4 chip and special technology- stacking two memory chips together. This kind of memory CANNOT be supported by VIA KT266A chipset. --the end.... -------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------Wants-------------------- :D: - I definitely want one the following capacities: 2x 512MB, 1x 1024MB, or 2x 1024MB I’m not sure if any of your GIG Sticks will work with this motherboard because of the 64M x 4 chip limitation. If you have a stick that is NOT this, that would be awesome. - If I am going with 2 sticks, I’d like: TWINX PRO or TWINX --------------------Questions-------------------- - Which is a better option for this board? “LL” or “C2” or “none” - Which “REGISTRED” sticks will work if I want to go into the 1GB to 3GB range? Or does it matter if it is “registered” or not? --------------------CHOICES------------------- TWINX PRO: TWINX2048-3200PRO TWINX1024-3200LLPRO TWINX1024-3200C2PRO XMS PRO: CMX1024-3200PRO CMX512-3200LLPRO CMX512-3200C2PRO TWINX: TWINX2048RE-3200 TWINX2048-3200 TWINX1024RE-3200LL TWINX1024-3200LL TWINX1024R-3200C2 TWINX1024-3200C2 TWINX1024-3200 TWINX512-3200LL TWINX512-3200C2 TWINX512-3200 TWINX1024-2700LL TWINX512-2700LL XMS: CMX1024RE-3200 CMX1024-3200 CMX512RE-3200LL CMX512-3200LL CMX512R-3200C2 CMX512-3200C2 CMX512-3200 CMX512-2700LL CMX512-2700C2 THANK YOU FOR ALL THE HELP, - THE PROP KID

I would not suggest registered memory as the CPU and MB's that you could use in the future will be limited. In addition, our registered memory would not run in this MB, as far as I know. I would suggest CMX512-3200LL as they would give you more options in the future and would be backwards compatible to PC-2100. However, you will need to set the timings manually to Cass 2-3-3-6 and set the memory frequency as well.

 What are the timing I would use for the Twinx1024-3200LL, that you recommended?  Finally, Would TWINX2048-3200 & TWINX2048-3200PRO (ORGANIZATION of: 128M x 64 -Bit) work on this board?
I know for a DDR 1 GB module to work on this board it Cannot be made by 64 M x 4 chip. Since this kind of memory CANNOT be supported by VIA KT266A chipset.
:D: thanks for helping me get the right memory. :D:
