n2audio
Hi, My parents have an older Dell DE051 (Dimension 1100). It has an intel Celeron D processor. MB Info from wikipedia: Manufacturer: Intel Chipset: Intel 865GV Intel 82865GV Memory Controller Hub Intel ICH5 (Intel 82801EB) or ICH5R (82801ER) I/O Controller Hub Processor: mPGA478 socket Front Side Bus (FSB) speed: Intel Celeron D processor supports 400/533 MHz system bus speed. BIOS: Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS version 1.10 Memory: two DDR SDRAM slots, 400 MHz maximum, 4 Gb (2x2 Gb) maximum, non-ECC (FWIW - Dell's documentation says 2x1gb max -- I'm guessing the 2x2gb spec is for the pentium version of the 1100) Using newegg's configurator I came up with this memory: TWINX2048-3200C2PT which is two sticks of cmx1024-3200c2pt. All I get is a series of beeps when I power the computer on. The only discrepancies I've found is the Corsair memory is cl2, the original is cl3 (I thought the new memory would just run at a slightly slower speed than it is capable of). Also - I found documentation that this MB's ram controller only runs at 2.6v and the Corsair was tested at 2.75. All I know for sure is -- it doesn't work. Suggestions? Wired
Not compatible. Partially due to the voltage, partially due to OEMs being super picky about memory. Guaranteed-Compatible Memory for your Dell Dimension 1100
n2audio
Thanks for the help. No guarantee on this one either (I like the rebate)? VS1GB400C3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145579
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 3, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 3, 2009 You would need to use VS1GB333 only with that MB or system.
