zoltan69
I need to expand the memory of this old lappie: I checked the memory configurator which suggested the VS512SDS266. I bought them, went home and flipped in the machine but they do not work  More specifically: the machine boots into XP but 3 out of 4 times it blue screens and this happens either with one or two sticks installed. I replaced the original memory (2*256megs of DDR 333) and no more blue screens. Do you advise the got the memory exchanged with DDR 333 sticks? Thank you. DerekT
I would first remove all the memory. Remove the battery and power cord. Allow to sit for a good half hour. Insert the sticks. Insert the battery and power cord and then restart. Does the issue repeat? What CPU do you have in that system? Do you advise the got the memory exchanged with DDR 333 sticks? zoltan69
Looks like you are suggesting to reset the BIOS  I will do as soon have some time. The processor is Pentium M 715 1,5 GHz
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 3, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 3, 2009 I am sorry but the largest memory module we make that is compatible with that system is VS512SDS266.
zoltan69
Yes, I know, but since Asus installed DDR 333 memory I tought I can use 512 megs DDR 333 modules, instead of the 266 which, apparently, do not work.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 4, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 4, 2009 The issue is with our DDR333 and DDR400 modules we use a higher density IC than your system can not see and why we only list a DDR266 module even though your system can use DDR333 memory. zoltan69
That's the point: I will try to find low density modules from other suppliers :sigh!:
