stolpiller
Hello! I can't set my memory to 9-9-9-24, wich its supposed to run at :( I've upped the volt to 1.6, but nu luck. Placed them at orange slots on my mobo. But it runs now at default: FREQ 400Mhz, FSB : DRAM 1:2 6-7-7-20 2T Processor is a E5200 @ 2.5Ghz. Want to runt it at 3Ghz, and FSB 333... Tried just about any bios settings (but obviously not at the perfect match)... Anyone know where to go read further? The Corsair manual doesn't help me.. nor Asus manual.. Thanks in advance
DerekT
You have to play with your multiplier to find the best spot but there's no hard and fast numbers that will guarantee an overclock that might not take. I have seen E5200 processors that will not make 333FSB no matter what. There are many reasons for lower binning. Sometimes it's cache, sometimes it's FSB, etc. etc. You might have one that would not make the 333FSB. In that case you have to raise your multiplier and lower your FSB and take whatever you can with the memory and strapping. Keep in mind that the 400MHz strapping is very wonky. This is one of the main reasons for buying higher binned chips. You know that they will make better numbers. With the E5200 you pays your money and takes your chances. I bet you already have tried what I have said anyway and found that you can not make the high FSB grade. Acceptance is the key when you are finally at a loggerheads of the overclock. Highest FSB and highest memory speed is not as important as highest CPU speed and you could very likely hit 12 X 300 = 3.6Ghz and accept what memory speed and latencies you get. The additional CPU speed will more than make up for a lower FSB and memory speed. Use Linpack for Stress Testing: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=197835 Download Memtest86+ Version 2.11 from--->Hereand extract the ISO image. Burn the ISO image to an CD-ROM disk. Download CPU-z from Here .Please Enter your BIOS, load Setup Defaults, Save Setup Defaults and set to these values. If stable enter Windows and post screenshots of CPU-z's CPU, Memory and SPD tabs. Run linpack for stress testing. Research Linpack: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=197835 Hello!
