MSI P45 Platinum HC running 2 pairs of TWIN2X4096-8500C5D

Recommended Posts

I am trying to run a stable board using the MSI P45 Platinum HC motherboard running 4UP CM2X2048-8500C5D modules. I can't even get th board stable using 2 sticks! It will only run 800mhz in dual mode. Once I change the settings (bios won't auto detect and set to 1066) to 1066 the board freezes on ram check. I know I can't run 1066 in 4up but if I can't even run a stable board at 2up where am I going?

I am running a Q9300 cpu with the latest bios version 1.5.

Can someone help me with the best settings for 2up and 4up? If I get both running stable I will come to a decission on which to use.

With 4 modules I would suggest setting the memory frequency at DDR667 or DDR800 and set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.2 Volts as well and test the system with http://www.memtest.org. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
