Asus Striker Extreme and CM2x2048-8500C5D

I've installed 4 of these 2 gig modules and the system runs well but...

 

CPU-Z sees them at 533 mhz... and the CPU-Z spd tab sees them as PC2-6400 (400 MHZ)????

 

Is this cuz I installed 4 sticks instead of 2?

 

 

I'm running Vista 64-bit .

 

I've tried several of the tips in this forum for other users with similar boards but the outcome is still the same.

 

Can anyone hint me a list of the best settings for this mobo with this mem and in my case with the 4 sticks.

Maybe a way to get this to 1:1? if that would be an improvement, I'm kinda new at this OC and MEM timing thing.

Your information is correct. The SPD on this memory is programmed at PC6400 so the memory can boot reliably with JEDEC settings at the initial boot or after a CMOS clear.

 

Also, DDR memory frequency is 1/2 it's data rate, hence the name dual data rate. So, DDR1066 memory operates at 533mhz actual frequency.

If you run a 1:1 ratio keep in mind that I don't think any Q6600 is going to reach a 533mhz FSB. So, assume you can reach a 400FSB which is more reasonable, then you are slowing your memory to DDR800.

 

Using a 3:4 divider makes more sense as you can run both the CPU and memory at more ideal speeds. Also, on a 680i you have the option of running UNLINKED which means you can run the CPU and memory independently of each other.

 

You'll need to try both options and see what works best for you.

Kinda greek to me...:D:

 

I know where to change the unlink and set it to 3:4.... ( note... no 3:4 setting in bios)

 

 

What values could I use for unlinked.... FSB... MEM.....
