mander
Hi, I am building a new system and am trying to figure out if my power supply is bad. I try the simple power supply test( did it with 1 fan and also did it with 5 fans attached) and the fans will spin for a second then stop. Is this normal for the HX1000w or should the fans spin up and stay running? I performed this test outside the case with just the PSU and the fans and am not sure if this is normal since the fans and 24 pin connector would be on serperate rails. Regards, M. boogieman
If the 24 pin connector is not attached to the mobo, the PSU won't work. Pins 14 and 15 I believe need jumpered. Google How-To.

mander
Ok I read the sticky."simple power supply test" means I was shorting the pins, green to black. Hence I take it that the "The fans should spin right up" comment in the test procedure means the case fan that is the load starts spinning and stays spinning. Thus my power supply must have a short or something that tells it that tells it to shut down since the case fan only spins for a second. Now to figure out how to RMA this from an APO address.
