TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF memory trouble

Recommended Posts

I bought the TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF 4GB kit for my new computer about a year ago, and everything worked fine until last week, when my computer started locking up. After locking up and being forced to turn off the comuter, the computer wouldn't start at all until I removed one of the ram sticks. It then gave me an error on boot about clock settings or some such, so I reset the bios settings and put the ram back in. Everything seemed to work fine, for a while, and then it did it again and again and again. Each time it locks up and I have to restart, the computer won't work at all (I get nothing but a blank screen on bootup) until I remove one of the RAM sticks.

I have tried running a memory test on both RAM sticks but strangely no problems were found. The system does seem to run with only one of the ram sticks in, but locks up if both are in, so I'm pretty sure it is the other stick that has gone bad. I've tried running it with the default bios settings as well as manually imputting the settings and it still crashes.

Please make sure that you have the latest bios and load setup defaults and then set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org to be sure one is not failing. If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
