Asus Rampage II Extreme X58 with TR3X6G1866C9DF

I just installed a new memory on my system.

The memory is Corsair Dominator TR3X6G1866C9DF 3X2GB PC15000, 1866Mhz.

My motherboard is Asus Rampage II Extreme X58 Board

MY CPU is i7 965 Extreme 3.2Ghz

When I tested, the Ram only run with 1333Mhz instead of 1866Mhz.

Anyone know the setting for the Bios for Asus Rampage II extreme, so that the Ram will run stable at 1866 Mhz ?

Also anyone know what software is use to read the memory speed in vista ?

Thank You

Hi there

I have the same mainboard and RAM as baibaiman, but use a Intel Core i7 940. I also tried to set the RAM to its promoted settings (1866MHz, 1.65v, 9-9-9-24), but by using a diffrent approach:

I set the "AI Overclock Tuner" to "X.M.P." and it immediately updateded all the other settings to the matching settings. After applying these settings i restarted the system several time, with all the same result: It freezed after a few seconds (20-30 sec), sometimes when showing POST messages, sometimes in BOIS menue, sometimes before booting memtest86+ from CD.

Can somebody tell why this is not working?

@baibaiman: Did you also tried my approach?

I'm really happy about any suggestions...

I have found that XMP does not work very well with these new hardware solutions and very likely it will take some time before the motherboard BIOS's are mature enough for the very high speed memories.

I have to set manually. I find the proper values with the DRAM set low. Find stability with the CPU and then move to the DRAM.

XMP at the high end is just not mature enough yet.

Edit:

Here's a thread for you to check through. I check it daily.
