DBZOGRE
I have begun making a computer and unsure if my ram is compatible with my motherboard. While reading the instructions for the Intel® Desktop Board DX58SO, I noticed a warning about using ram that had a voltage higher than 1.6 volts. The warning stated ram with a higher voltage could damage the processor. To my chagrin, I found I had bought Corsair ram that operated on a voltage of 1.65 volts. I went to http://www.corsair.com/configurator/ and noticed that website says my ram is compatible with my mobo. Is there something special I need to do in the bios to make it work and keep my processor safe? or Am I mistaken and the ram and mobo are not compatible? My mobo is the Intel DX58SO. (I assumed that on corsair compatibility site that DX580S0 was equivalent to X58SO. Website for it is http://www.intel.com/Products/Desktop/Motherboards/DX58SO/DX58SO-overview.htm My ram is Corsair 6 gb (3 X 2gb) 1600 (PC3 12800) DDR3. Its model number is TR3X6G1600C9. I aplogize for the length of the post. I aimed for clarity not brevity.
DerekT
All the X58 motherboards I have worked on specify 1.65v so I would contact Intel to find out why they specify a different voltage than all the other companies.
Steve 80452
I have the same question, Its a very specific statement listed with bios updates inside the box. I also do not see any 1600 on the intel website but 1600 is listed on the box? any ideas?
