TWIN2X2048-6400C4D one stick faulty

Recommended Posts

My system was working fine for a while, with the sticks as dual channels, and suddenly failed to boot. Nothing on the screen, no beeps, nothing.

I tried a lot of different things, like changing graphics card and moniter, resetting BIOS, etc. I finally turned the the RAM. I remove both sticks, and sure enough, when it started, the system let out a series of beeps. long-short-short, repeat, repeat, etc.

I tried reseating both sticks, but again got silence.

When I removed one of them, and tried starting it, everything ran normally.

At that point, I was pretty sure that the stick I had removed was bad, but just to be sure, I swapped the two. Sure enough, I got silence. When I swapped the good one back in, everything went normal again.

So I've concluded that I have one good stick and one bad stick. Can I get the bad one replaced through warranty?
