Having Problem installing Windows XP...

Recommended Posts

Motherboard GeForce 7159 7150 Socket 775 with Corsair TWINX 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz (2x1024) 5-5-5-18-2T.

Windows Setup (to a 200GB partition on a 500GB SATA drive) phase 1 installs but upon initial reboot (for the continuation of setup) I get an IRQL or Page Fault or Pfn_List_Corrupt or Ntfs.sys (STOP:0x00000024 (0x001902FE, 0xF796Da60, 0xF796D75C, 0xF728B126) error.

On system boot with full "boot diagnostics" shows a "RAM R/W testfailed.

This system bundle was purchased in late November and I finally have time to devote to working the issue.

Internet searches point to a memory stick error, any thoughts.

Thanx in advance for the assist.

when did you partition the drive? and is there an install already on the other partition?

do you have another computer to burn a memtest cd on or a flash drive?

i have a bunch more questions but ill start with those above first.

are you able to just make it a single drive again?

can you try the install again with just 1 stick of memory just to rule out each stick? etc...etc...

I will check each stick individually and I have some good news....I purchased a stick of PC6400 DDR2 800 (2GB) and I was able to install successfully with no hickups. I will download the memtest and test the original Corsair sticks and see what it says.

Thanx for the quick response.
