xms2 stick causing blue screens

Recommended Posts

i bought the twind xms 2 model number: cm2x2048-6400c5. i put this in my new build around august, and after that had many problems. i experienced many blue screens and issues with what seemed like windows, so i reinstalled. this did not work, my friends said it was probably faulty memory. after 3 months i decided to remove one of the sticks to test how it would run. i have not had a single blue screen where before it was occurring 3 times a day. it is clear that the stick was bad.

im wondering what you think my logic is on base.

i was also wondering what i should ship it back through and if i have to pay for shipping.

i also would like to know if i need to include the original packaging, because the serial code was sent in for the rebate.

thank you

i have the 2 2gb sticks totaling 4 gb

all bios settings were set to defaults.

i took out one stick and the other runs my computer alone without problems, so i am running on 2 gb

i will run mem test if i have to, but i will first test the slot on my mobo by putting both sticks in the other slots

please respond with any thoughts

thank you.

Please make sure that you have the latest bios and load setup defaults and then set the memory Voltage to 2.0 Volts then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org to be sure one is not failing. If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
