Dominator 1800 & Ramp[age Extreme

I have a q 9650 in a Rampage Extreme mobo clocked to 450x9. I've been using competitor DDR3 1600 clocked to 1800 8-8-8-24-1T. Independent tests of CPU and memory show stable (OCCT, Memtest86 & Prime95 small FFT)

However blend tests are unstable. After a lot of trial and error I was able to change the skew and get the ram *almost* stable but it's like sitting on a knife edge. SOme days great other days problems.

Decided to bite the bullet and getthe ram I was TOLD to get in the first place - Corsair Dominator DDR3 TW3X4G1800C8DF.

Several questions - specs show ram voltage as 1.8 - can I exceed this if I need to and more important *should* I need to?

Should I be able to get PL7 1T at 1800 8-8-8-24 with these sticks? or is 2T the best fit.

Should I be able to just drop these sticks in with auto settings or is there a recommended way to go.

I know the cpu can handle the 450x9 on the 333 strap so getting the memory stable at 1800 and passing the blend tests are my main concern.

Main use of the system as far as any gaming is Microsoft Flight SImulator X.

Thanx,

Vic

It's hard to say what you will be able to get with it. I am running 4 X 2048 at 1600Mhz with PL8 and a 532Mhz FSB. For some reason, I can't get this board stable with 2 X 2048 and 1600Mhz. Go figure....

So, don't be so concerned with DRAM speed. With this board, you can tweak like crazy. I am running with 1.80v and our DRAM has a maximum warranted voltage of 2.0v.
