TWIN 2x2048-6400C4DHX G Problem

I saw some verry useful topics about this and some of them really helped but i still have a question regarding my Corsair Memory that i can't find answer.

I have bought some TWIN 2x2048-6400C4DHX (i got 2 packages ... i have 4 modules x 1024) and also i have an ABIT IP35 PRO motherboard and i saw that many people have problems using RAM at 4-4-4-12.

By reading your topics from this forum i succeded to solve this problem 50%.

I mean that i succeded to make only 2 modules to work at 4-4-4-12...how can be this possible? I DON"T KNOW :) , maybe i mistake but i need some oppinions.

I got into BIOS, set it's voltage from 1.8 default into 2.1v.

I've used the Everest and SISoftware Sandra to get some info and they both show that 2 modules work at 4-4-4-12 2.1v and the other 2 modules work at 5-5-5-18 1.8v ...how can be that possible if it's set from BIOS ? shouldn't they both work at same voltage?

Slot 1 & 2 RAMs 5-5-5-18 - 22

Slot 3 & 4 RAMs 4-4-4-12 - 22 -2T

Also i found a small difference Betwen RAMs in EVEREST: *What does these mean ?

RAM 1 - it says thats 1GB (2 ranks, 4 banks)

RAM 2 - it says thats 1GB (2 ranks, 4 banks)

RAM 3 - it says thats 1GB (1 rank, 8 banks)

RAM 4 - it says thats 1GB (1 rank, 8 banks)

Thank You ! (Meanwhile i'm gonna make some more tests in case i mistake)

PS.

I'm from Romania and i apologise for my bad english and any gramatical mistakes made to this topic.

Here are the screenshot from CPU-Z SPD SLOTS: (uploaded on my FTP)

SLOT 3:

SLOT 4:

As you see is some difference betwen the Slots 1/2 and 3/4 at 2.1v .

I will change the sets now each on other slots to see if it reacts same.

The sticks in slot 1 and 2 should be set to slot 1 and 3. The sticks in slot 3 and 4 should be set to slots 2 and 4.

Your sticks in slot 1 and 2 have mis-programmed SPD settings. The modules are correct 6400C4 but the SPD is incorrect.

This doesn't matter and you can still set to 4-4-4-12 2T, but it is advised when you populate all for DRAM slots, to drop the DRAM speed.

Please research this thread:

http://www.houseofhelp.com/v3/showthread.php?t=64360&highlight=Unpredictable+results+QUAD2X4096+Gigabyte+X38-DS5

There is a lmitation of the On Motherboard (Intel) memory controller and a population of all four banks at the full speed of a two bank run. This limitation is across the board with both Nvidia and Intel chipset based boards, DDR, DDR2 and DDR3.

Keep in mind that often issues arise in the longer term. The issues seldom damage the DRAM. They damage the on motherboard memory controller which has a harder time keeping up with the demands of a four DRAM slot population being run as fast as a two DRAM slot population. Those who want to be secure in their system either purchase a single kit of the DRAM capacity that the four singles have or they move to a higher bandwidth DRAM and drop the bandwidth. I also advise it as I have personally seen the issues that can and often do arise with a four DRAM slot population running at the full speed of a single kit speed.

I personally advise for a two stick solution as it is far gentler to the motherboard memory controller.

You have different modules there with different IC densities. Not a good thing either.

I've changes RAM kits betwen slots and it's exactly the other side.

And because i got them out to change them i saw that one KIT is Version 2.1 and other one version 5.1 from what i saw on them.

I will take a look at that topic and i hope it will help...also i'm gonna go tomorow at the shop when i got the RAMS and posibly change these 4x1GB with 2x2GB.

Thank You !

As the slots show :D they are colored 1/3 & 2/4 .

I changed the RAM from slots 2 & 3 betwen them so they are now set like 1/3 & 2/4.

And next step for me is to change them imediatly into 2x2048 for better performance.

Thank You Verry Much For Help.
