Flash Voyager 8gb : have I got a fake?

Recommended Posts

I bought on ebay a corsair voyager 8 gb ( part number cmfusb2.0-8gb ) , but it didn't include the lace and the encrypting program.

I tried and transfer some files (about 1 gb), both from Windows and Linux and the transfer speed didn't exceed 5 mb/s.

Then I executed a test with HD Tune ( under Windows XP ) and the result was in the average speed of 18 mb/s on writing mode.

The size noticed by Windows and Linux is of 7,5 gb, instead of the 7,45 gb fortold.

I wonder if it could be a fake. Does it exsist a version of this pen-drive sold without lace and crypting program? Is it normal that capacity is 7,51 gb ? and what about transfer rate?

Thanks for your help

Yes we no longer bundle the encryption software and they have stopped including the Lanyard. Sorry!

Please try to format the drive from a command prompt with this syntax:

Format (X:) /FS:FAT32 /U (X=the drive letter assigned to the Flash Voyager)

Please try the HD-Bench software to test the performance.

The write should be about 7 MBps and read should be about 28 MBps.
