aaronmr2
I have an Abit A17 and I am presently running 1g (2x512) XMS twinx 2700ll with no problems. I want to upgrade to 1g XMS twinx 3200ll and want to know if this will plug in and boot at the low latency and proper speed settings as the 2000ll did? I like the way I can just plug in the ll modules and forget about messing around in the bios. Will the 3200ll work as well as the 2700ll has? CandyKid
If you are referring to the Abit AT7, then yes it should (sometimes mainboards incorrectly read SPD chips) work, but you won't see any performance gain. The board is based on the VIA KT333 chipset and doesn't support DDR400/PC3200 speeds, so you'd end up running PC3200 memory at PC2700 speeds, thus getting you nowhere. To get an increase in performance, you'd have to overclock your FSB along with your memory speed (running memory out of sync/not at 1:1 can cause major instability). Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 8, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 8, 2004 I believe that he is asking about ABIT AI7 which is based on Intel I865 chipset. If so, yes you should have no problems with XMS3200LL with this MB. I would suggest that you get the latest bios and you would need to have a 800 FSB CPU in order to run DDR400. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 26, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 26, 2004 Great O.C.! And I think you should stay with what you have, as that's pretty good especially for XMS2700LL!
