CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W not start up when SATA HDD connected

Recommended Posts

New builder here, please help me.

I am building a new system, if I have the HDD connected to the PSU, when I push the power button, I can see the fans start rotating, and after a fraction of second, everything stops, as if there is no power, but as long as I disconnect the power cable for HDD, even if I still have the HDD connected to MB via SATA data cable connected everything starts fine, I can go into BIOS, and upon exiting BIOS, I get the message to put in the boot disk.

I have tested the HDD on other systems, and it rotates ( it is a brand new HDD, so I didn't go any further).

Spec as follows

CPU: Intel Quad Core Q6600

MB: Asus P5Q Pro

Graphic card: Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 512mb

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 500Gb 7200RPM SATA HDD

Optical: Lite-on IDE DVD burner

Any help will be really appreciated.

I would try a few different SATA power connectors just to rule out a possible issue with one of the cables. If your results are consistent with all SATA power connectors, then I would suspect that the issue is either with the motherboard, or the HDD.
