4 gigs memory make pc slower and faulty

Hello, I'm new here.

I will need some advise.

I just built a new system using the following:

MB: ASUS P5N32-E SLI Plus

CPU: Intel core 2 quad 2.4

Video: ASUS nVidia 7600 gT

Memory: 4 gig (4x1gig) Corsair CM2X1024-6400 5-5-5-12 800mhz

OS: Win XP pro 32-bit SP3

Bios: Latest update from ASUS

Issue:

With 2x 1Gb my system runs fine.

The system was behaving extremely unstable, with files unable to be copied form install CD, and blue screens - page faults, memory dumps, and cmos checksum errors, after I added 2 x 1 GB more of the same corsair memory.

I have run memtest86+ for some 12 hrs with no errors whatsoever.

Questions:

1) Is the momory I have compatable with this Motherboard?

2) Do I need to change any bios settings or install a patch for XP to run 4 gig?

Thanks in advance

With 4 modules I would suggest setting the memory frequency at DDR667 and set the memory Voltage to 2.0 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.2 Volts as well and test the system with http://www.memtest.org. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
