Question about 2 different versions of RAM

I have 4 X 1 Gig sticks of 8500C5D memory. One set is version 1.2 and the other set is 5.1. My question is when I looked up the stats on both types the earlier model is set to run at 2.2 V and the later version is 2.1V. (Got the stats from this post: http://www.houseofhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54052 ).

My PC is running but unstable since installing the later version of the RAM and even though my flaky Asus Striker II Formula maybe to blame I'm wondering if the 2 different settings are causing the problem. I've tried running at both voltages but have experienced the same results. Whatever game I'm in at the time will crash to desktop with various errors that are always memory related.

I've run memtest on all the modules one by one and they all test OK.

I've tried several suggestions from these boards as far as timings and voltage settings but haven't been successfully so far. My question is should I get more RAM of the later version or is there anyone who has the same setup and got it to run stable?

Thanks

With 4 modules I would suggest setting the memory frequency at DDR667 or DDR800 and set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.2 Volts as well and test the system with http://www.memtest.org. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.

Sorry I took so long to get back to you. I dropped the overall speed and they seem to be stable for now. I'd like to get them up to full speed eventually but I think I'll need to get a new MB before that will happen. Thanks for the help.
