shomei
Hi, I have just built my new rig, it booted up no prob. I've installed Vista 64bit, did all the updates, updated the bios to the latest version, restarted, applied all the os updates and this morning the computer did not boot (mentioning memory problem). I forgot to mention that all the settings were left to auto (that's 800MHz 4-4-4-12 and 1.9v). I removed the one stick and tried to boot and it booted ok. Then I raised the ddr volt to 2.1v, installed the second stick and again no boot. I tried booting with either of the two memory sticks and it boots fine. The problem is when I try to boot with both of them in dual channel mode, although in the beginning it was booting just fine. Any ideas?
DerekT
Dual Channel Mode is a function of the on motherboard memory controller (Intel) and not the DRAM. Try inserting the sticks in slot 2 and 4. I would look to RMA of the mainboard though. Have you run Memtest on each stick singularly?

I am at work now so I cannot run Memtest at the moment. I will do so as soon I return home and tell you the results. I'll also try raising the northbridge volt a bit and maybe downgrading the bios... DerekT
RMA of the mainboard is the path I would personally choose. Don't hold onto that board for too long. If you can get it back to your reseller, my advice is to do it now. These are the BIOS settings for your board that should allow for a clean boot with your DRAM. I added a bit of a Northbridge raise as well. nicioan
Just came home and put the bios settings you told me with the one stick installed, saved, shut down, put the other stick and tried to boot but with no luck! After that I decided to try booting with either one of the sticks and found out that it only boots with one of the two sticks! It boots in each of the 4 slots and the second one boots in neither. I guess then that the second stick is faulty, or has it been fried by the motherboard? So what's the case, faulty ram or faulty motherboard?
