ryan251
I built my new PC with a CMPSU-450VX power supply. It is silent, except for disk activity - when reading or writing large files, a very loud whine comes from power supply, I can only describe it as a high pitch whine / squeal "noise". It only happens during disk activity, and I am sure the sound is coming from the power supply (and not the disks, or motherboard, etc). I bought this power supply because it won awards for being quiet... I can't RMA it with newegg, because I already sent in the UPC for rebate. Questions: 1 - Can I return this power supply to Corsair for a replacement? 2 - Will I be sent a new one unit, or a refurbished (recertifed) one? 3 - Do I have to pay to ship it to Corsair? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 20, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 20, 2008 1 - Can I return this power supply to Corsair for a replacement? A: Yes see bellow! 2 - Will I be sent a new one unit, or a refurbished (recertifed) one? A: At this time they are all replaced with New units. 3 - Do I have to pay to ship it to Corsair? A: Yes you would pay the shipping to us and we pay to ship it back. Let's get it replaced, please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it. But I would check where the sound is coming from to be sure or try another PSU in your system.
