Logan5
Hi, Just a quick question/concern on this product as I am looking to buy three 16GB flash drives (FD's) this week. My question is, once the FD is out of its case, does the end cap also come off? My concern is that the end cap looks so big that I am not sure something else could go into another USB port right next to it (for example the wireless signal receiver for my mouse is rather large, or say another FD). Also when my laptop in sitting on my desk, would not the large end cap make it hard to put the FD in since the end cap might force the FD up at an odd angle? A normal size FD would go straight in and not touch the desk, even if placed on the bottom USB port (my Dell has the USB ports stacked on top of each other). Thank you, Logan
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 16, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 16, 2008 I would not suggest running other USB devices next to the Flash Drive as they will need to have 500 Mamps at 5 Volts and many USB ports will have problems running 2 devices especially if they have a high power requirement like a Wireless lan. Logan5
Hi, Thanks for the reply but could you also answer my other questions? Once the FD is out of its case, does the end cap also come off? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 17, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 17, 2008 The Cap is removable on our Flash Voyager and Survivor and would have to be removed to connect to a computer if that is what you are asking? And I would not suggest stacking USB devices especially on a Note Book they may not be able to power both devices.
First Light
The Cap is removable on our Flash Voyager and Survivor and would have to be removed to connect to a computer if that is what you are asking? I think you are mis-reading the question. I think the poster is asking: if once you remover the Survivor drive from it's protective case, there is still one end of the case (ie. the cap) still attached to the drive. Is this cap removable from the drive? I have tried to remove the cap from my drive with no success. - - - - And to answer the OP's other question, I have installed a Survivor and a Voyager side-by-side in my laptop with no problems. Do they fit tight? Yes, very tight, but I have encountered no problems other than the tight fit. However, if the other flash drive you intend to install next to the Survivor is fatter than a Voyager, you might encounter a problem.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 20, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 20, 2008 The Cap would have to be removed from the flash drive to connect it but the Body of the flash drive is not removable.
