Hi,

I have a vista 64 bit op system which has been running 2x 1gb corsair xms 3 1066mhz(v2.1) ram without ANY problems whatsoever.my mobo is a bad axe intel p35 motherboard. anyway, so I bought another 2x 1gb of corsair ram with idential model number. now I get frequent bsod with pfr list corrupt error.when I tested with orthos I get a error after 3 minutes.so to try solve this prob I reinstalled vista with 2gb of ram ,installed sp1 then added the 2gb and the same problem. The version of the new ram I bought is v1.1. could that be the prob? I tested the ram on its own and no problems. HELP!!

also i have the latest bios for my board and the board is running the sticks at the correct timings 7-7-7-20 and at 1.54 V. Also all sticks are in working order... i really think that the version mismatch bewtween the sticks v1.1 for 1 pair and v2.1 for another pair might be the problem. Any advice ramguy?

Can you tell me our modules part# (How To Read the Memory Label) and the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?

Hi all settings are on bios defaults. i.e. no overclocking ! timings are 7-7-7-20 at 1.54v. Ram settings are all default i.e. 333mhz with a multiplier of 9 ie. 3ghz processor.

Ram details for 1st pair: cm3x1024-1066c7

1.50V ver2.1 082320522

RAM details for 2nd pair: cm3x1024-1066c7

1.50V ver1.1 ????? (unknown because at friends place till tomorrow)

Please make sure that you have the latest bios and load setup defaults and then set the memory Voltage to 1.7 Volts then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org to be sure one is not failing. If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.

Also when running 4 modules you may have to slow the memory down to DDR800

Bios is updated. Will try 1.7v. So please tell me ... would sticks with different versions cause a problem?

They most certainly can, but I would think that you need to drop your DRAM speed to make a four DRAM slot population stable. As RAM GUY Stated, drop to 800Mhz.

uggg... i really dont wanna do that :( . these are meant to run 1066 and setting down to 800 will be so slow for gaming etc . think i should replace it all with 2x2gb sticks rather but what a mission :(

That's what I did when I transitioned to 4GB. I just sold the 1GB sticks and went with 2GB sticks. But the difference in speed is very minimal. 5% at the most and usually less.
