Sust
Hey guys, I just built a new computer. I assembled everything and have a huge problem. I turn it on and it starts up for about 3 seconds then turns off. Then it keeps turning on and off by itself. I have checked my power supply and everything else in the computer is working, all the parts are brand new and just came out of the box. I made sure the cpu fan was mounted correctly, all the fans inside the computer are working fine, it has nothing to do with overheating and the powersupply works fine in another pc. I have taken most of the parts out and tried having just the basics. That didn't work and i've tried just about every possible combination. I am pretty sure it is an incompatibility problem, i have checked absolutely everything else. Specs: Asus M3N-HT Deluxe nForce 780a SLI Socket AM2+ AMD Phenom X4 9950 Black Edition 4MB Socket AM2+ WD VelociRaptor 300GB SATA HD 10K/16MB/SATA-3 (main hard drive) Diamond Radeon HD 4870 X2 2GB 2x Seagate 750GB Serial ATA HD 7200/16MB/SATA-3G 2x Corsair 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz (2x2048MB) "8gb" I think the ram may be the problem. The smaller corsair 1024MB sticks are on the compatibility list but i cannot see mine. Im not sure whether this could be the problem or not. Someone please help. :sigh!:
DerekT
Remove all but one stick. Insert the 1024MB stick in the first slot closest to the CPU. Do you gain boot?
Sust
already tried, still no boot, (i have 4 2gb chips, 8gb in total) ive tried every possible combination possible and nothing works
DerekT
Motherboard, powersupply, cpu not seated or installed correctly. With all four RAM sticks installed singly not working and two sets are different sets of DRAM? Very doubtful that this is a DRAM issue.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 15, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 15, 2008 I would agree that would suggest some other problem and I would test the memory in another system to take it out of the picture.
