I have an Acer Aspire 5570. Ive read in a few place that this laptop can hold 4gb of ram. Today I went out and got a Corsair Gaming memory chip.

My computer is running on 2 512mb chips. i tried to replace one of them with this new 2gb chip, when I turn on my computer nothing happened, so i took out the other 512mb and left just the 2gb and tried both slots and still the same thing happen.

whats wrong?

attached is a screen shot from cpu-z of the motherboard.

Please try the following:

On some laptops you will need to reset the configuration for the laptop to recognize the new hardware. Follow these steps: Please make sure when physically removing or installing hardware that the system is not plugged to the AC adapter and remove the battery. Power on the laptop with no memory installed. Leave the system on for 30 seconds. Then install the new memory and power on. If problems persist, you may want to test the new Corsair memory by itself in the system in the same slot the original memory was in. Some laptops may not prefer mixing different capacity modules.

your rig takes ddr-667 ram, no higher. if you bought dedicated ddr-800 it likely wont down-speed itself.

what are the exact specs or model of ram you bought?

although ddr-800 is listed here http://www.corsairmemory.com/configurator/corsair_custom.aspx?id=351778 but its a dual speed chip

weird?

DDR2-667/800 (CGM2-5300/6400) SODIMM is listed that does downgrade itself though.

Can you check with CPU-Z/Memory tab and see what speed your original memory runs at. If it runs at 266/533MHz, some systems have issues reading off the 3rd SPD. In this memories case the SPD is listed accordingly with 800MHz as 1st, 667MHz as 2nd and 533MHz as 3rd. If your original memory runs at 667MHz this memory should have no issues and I would suggest a RMA.
