CX524
Hi guys, i purchased the TWIN2X4096-6400C5 memory sticks (which is a twin pack), and one of the stick is bad, i contacted Corsair RMA support and the reply was that i have to send BOTH sticks in to get a replacement... That doesn't make any sense to me, why do I have to send in a perfectly working component along with the faulty component in order to get a replacement just because i bought them as a set? This set of 2 memory sticks are the only ones i bought for my new comp, meaning now i only have 1 memory stick in there, if I have to pull it out to send it for RMA too it's going to render my computer useless
Wired
You don't HAVE to, however you have to keep in mind that a TWIN pack is a PRE-TESTED pair of modules. If they only RMA one stick, they can't guarantee that the RMA'd module will be compatible with the one still in your system.
CX524
I see what you're saying, but since the pair of modules are of the same part number, if Corsair gives me a direct replacement for the module shouldnt it work with the one i currently have in the comp? Wired
No. Different versions can use different ICs, and they can't confirm 2 sticks working together without testing it. Like I said, RMA only one stick if you want. You have all the information, it's your call.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 13, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 13, 2008 If the modules were purchased as a matched pair, then that is how we would need to replace them.
