ASUS P5Q Deluxe 1406 BIOS

Recommended Posts

I would like to recommend people to get this BIOS, at least to those who own the Board and the Corsair PC8500C5 Dominator. Apparently with this BIOS, I am able to O/C my Q9550 (C1 mind you not E0) even higher than ever before. I managed to get very stable at 3.84Ghz (even at very high RAM speed..not FSB). Unfortunately the ASUS engineer still do not fix the USB legacy support...I still got error when enabling them while running memtest

You just need to disable the Legacy USB when running Memtest. The error is not real, it is an error of checking cached memory that is being read by memtest whilst the cache is operational.

I don't understand what your problem is? You don't like the error when you Memtest with Legacy USB enabled?

Derek,

the reason I post this, is to share with fellow Enthusiasts that have the P5Q series to use the latest BIOS 1406. (especially if you have C1 stepping). I find this BIOS pretty good in overclocking. Well at least by using the same Dominator like mine PC8500C5.

Also for the legacy USB issue...I dont have any problem except I just hate it when everytime I want to run memtest, I have to go to BIOS to change the setting. As I understand it, this problem only come with certain ASUS board.

You are correct, and yes, it is a bit of a hassle, especially when some ASUS boards issue problems with it and some do not.
