Corsair tx650w psu making clicking noise

Recommended Posts

I just got a tx650w from CompUSA and installed the unit today. Things went smoothly until I turned the pc on. Everything seemed like it was receiving power, but the psu immediately began making a steady clicking sound. It was loud enough to be annoying even with the case closed. When I manually stopped the fan the clicking ceased, but as soon as I let it go again the sound started the same as before. I think this fan uses a ball bearing, but the clicking seems too noisy for that. Any way to fix this?

I would try loosening the 4 fan screws on the bottom of the PSU about a 1/4 turn and see if that helps. Also, make sure to plug the PSU directly into a wall outlet when testing. If you still have the same issues then I would suggest either replacing it with your reseller, or if they can not help you then please, use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it. Be sure to check the box that says “I've already spoken to Technical Support and/or RAM Guy.”
