AusDog
You were sure right about two things. Software is no way to OC and hardware can screw your software in sometimes frustrating low-level ways. Thought I had a virus but a GeForce OC utility in searching for possible OC's for vid card had taken DRAM Freq from 762 to something like 1066. I reset it and ran Memtest to be sure. AusDog
It was a virus and the AV prog dumped 20 gigs and I dumped 30 gigs of back-ups. Guess it was a waste of time formating and re-installing. The one question I would ask is can I set memory clock and core speed for the GeForce in the Bios? I will research settings to enter.
