this is going to sound really dumb but im not sure how to change the latency to these settings. i changed the voltage o 2.0** but i dont know where t go in BIOS to change the rest :

Memory Voltage: 2.0v

NB Core Voltage: 1.4v <--?

TCL: 4 <--?

TRCD: 4 <--?

TRP: 4 <--?

TRAS: 12 <--?

Command Per Clock: 2 <--?

TRC: 24 <--?

are these settings in bios? if so what tab and what option from there. otherwise if there is link for this that would help i could use that too.

You have 6400 DRAM which is not 4-4-4-12. You have 2 X 1024, not 4 X 1024 so the settings/timings are

Memory Voltage: 1.9v

NB Core Voltage: Auto

TCL: 5

TRCD: 5

TRP: 5

TRAS: 15

Command Per Clock: 2

TRC: Auto

He said that he had "CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)" I'd bet he copy-pasted that from Newegg, because I just bought the same thing from Newegg about a week ago. I'm having BSODs and random reboots while I try to install Windows XP. I haven't tried any of these new settings yet (at work right now), but I notice that the memory settings your giving are different from what is on Newegg:

Model TWIN2X2048-6400C4

Type 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM

Tech Spec

Capacity 2GB (2 x 1GB)

Speed DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

Cas Latency 4

Timing 4-4-4-12

Voltage 2.1V

http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820145034

Are Newegg's specs wrong? I'm already a bit annoyed that their "recommended buy" for that motherboard was RAM that isn't on Asus's compatable vendors list. Although, I do usually buy Corsair anyway, so I guess it doesn't really make a difference.

6400 and 6400C4 are different DRAM modules. 6400 runs with 5-5-5-15 @ 1.8V (5-5-5-12 @ 1.8V and JEDEC 5-5-5-18 @ 1.8V) and 6400C4 runs with 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1V. Newegg shows 6400 and then in the next page specs shows 6400C4. I don't know what they are selling with that method.

@Lido84,

Please shut your system down and remove a stick of DRAM. Write down the exact model number and post it here please.

saiban was correct. i did copy paste from new egg. while the item description lists the ram as 6400 the product id on the box shows it as 6400C4

i used 4-4-4-12 with voltage of 1.9 and it was running fairly stable but still had memory errors while playing WoW.. hehe.. anyway i upped the memory voltage to 2.09 (est) and it has been running more stable. checking temps and it seems fine

thanks for all ur help this site and thread saved me much aggrivation
