zaeta
As the topic says, what voltage should I use for those modules? Currently I'm running it at 1.900V and I'm experiencing stability issues which may be related to the memory and I don't wanna push the voltage until I'm sure it's safe and it won't damage the hardware. Thanks in advance.
Wired
Lower the voltage. They're tested @ 1.60v. Max voltage is 2.0v. http://www.corsair.com/_datasheets/TW3X4G1333C9DHX.pdf
zaeta
Hmm that seems strange. Because regarding the stability issue I have I contacted the eVGA support (my motherboard manufacturer) and they adviced me to increase the voltage
Wired
Fortunately they didn't make the memory :) You can try 2.0v, but if you didn't see any stability increase in 0.3v, you may not see any difference with 0.1v more. Test one stick at a time in each slot using Memtest86+.
zaeta
But would it damage my hardware if I increased it to 2.0V? Nevermind, I lowered it to 1.600v since the guy assisting me at evga doesn't seem too bright unfortunetly.
Wired
The max warrantied voltage for those modules is 2.0v as stated above, so no, you wouldn't damage anything.
zaeta
Allright, but as it seems now the issue does not lie with my RAM but the motherboard itself. Incase you heard of the "Unknown CMDre error" with some of the latest nvidia motherboards that's the problem I have, and I'm trying to find a solution for it :P But thanks for the help anyway :)
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 6, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 6, 2008 Where are you getting that error and does it happen with a BSOD message? If so search for the error code at http://www.microsoft.com/technet.
zaeta
I get the message in the System Log (think it's called that, atleast in the swedish version) which is just an "unknown error on cmdre" and then a few random numbers, usually always different. But last night I let it stay frozen in that state for about 15 mins or so, and I actually got a proper informative error message and it said that the driver nv4_disp is stuck in an infinite loop. And that it is usually caused by bad drivers or bad hardware. So my contact at evga suggested I RMA'd the graphics card. And I highly doubt it's memory failure, since I've ran memtest, one dimm at a time, for several hours. I pass 1-hour OCCT (incase of cpu failure) and also Prime95 Blend test for 15 hours without errors/warnings. Here's one of the error messages however(not that I translated it from swedish, so it might not be 100% accurate to a proper english version, however the error data is): Event type: Error Event source: nv Event category: None Event-ID: 14 Date: 2008-10-02 Time: 15:20:36 User: Missing Computer: MYCOMPUTER Description: Unknown error on CMDre 00000001 00000000 00000000 00000001 00000001 Data: 0000: 00 00 00 00 02 00 4e 00 ......N. 0008: 00 00 00 00 0e 00 aa c0 ......ªÀ 0010: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........ 0018: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........ 0020: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........ Also note that the digits in the description tend to vary slightly for every message, only time i've noticed is when I've tried another game, the above one being World of Warcraft. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 7, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 7, 2008 I would suggest contacting the Video card maker as that is an issue with the Video Card/Video Firmware/Driver.
