forumsviewer
I keep getting random shut downs with this configuration and the Q9550 processor. I have verified with MSI that the Q9550 is compatible with the latest 2.1 BIOS update (which I have done). The random restarts still are present. I have taken so that the computer has the processor, one stick of memory, motherboard, video card and hard drive and boot into Windows. The random restarts are still present. It doesnt matter if I run one or two of the Corsair memory sticks. They suggested to look at the memory and its timings. I downloaded cpuz and wrote down the following under the memory tab: DRAM: 400 FSB: 5:6 CAS (CL): 5 RAS TO CAS (tRLD): 5 RAS (tRP):5 Cycle (tRAS): 18 Bank (tRC): 22 Command Rate (CR): 2T I assume from the specs of TWIN2X4096-6400C5 of '5-5-5-18-2T' that this is correct. I have ran memtest for several passes and borrowed the same memory from a friend and still the problem persists. I've also changed out the power supply with higher wattage. What are your thoughts? The restart has happened before even getting into Windows.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 2, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 2, 2008 If that happens with either module when installed one at a time I would ask the MB maker to check the MB for you.
