Neuromaster
So I have the classic problem with the Asus P5E3 , Corsair TW3X4G1333C9DHX combination , which , no matter how many bios changes I do, I can't solve it. Bios Vers. = 505 Bios reseted to defaults Only changed: AI Tweaker DRAM Freq = DDR3-1333Mhz DRAM Command Rate = 2N CAS# = 9 RAS# to CAS# Delay = 9 RAS# Pre Time = 9 RAS# Act Time = 24 DRAM Voltage = 1.62 ( tried 1.70 to but from what I've read this MB overclocks a bit ) NB Voltage = 1.41 CPU Spread Spectrum = Disabled PCIE Spread Spectrum = Disabled Advanced-> CPU Configuration C1E = Disabled Intel ® SpeedStep Tech = Disabled Of course I get the usual symptoms: Vista freezes on random periods of timeMouse led is off No keyboard responseFor DRAM Voltage >= 1.7 the screen is filled with random color lines and then freezes So again I do the usual Memtest Diagnostic. And funny after 3 successful passes I get this : http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3253/2907318900_7dcc5d1fec_t.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3021/2906472713_9e5a9c7820_t.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3214/2907319876_77c1b59eed_t.jpg (Pictures posted chronologically from left to right) I tested with one Memory Module and no freezes and no errors. So what shall I do? It seems that what ever I do this 4 GB Corsairs are just too much for this MB!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 2, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 2, 2008 If both modules will run and pass one up but not in D/C I would suggest asking the MB Maker to check the MB for you. And try setting the memory Voltage to 1.8 Volts.
Neuromaster
RAM GUY first let me thank you for your replay! I'll try test every module , because I tested only one! I'll come back with the results.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 2, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 2, 2008 NP yes please test them both one at a time to be sure.
Neuromaster
Ok tested once again the modules together. DRAM Voltage was 1.64 not 1.62. With 1.62, I've ran Memtest for 48 hours with no errors, but as soon as a got in Vista the system froze ! My question is: are the memory modules the problem or not ? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 7, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 7, 2008 The modules should run great on that MB I would try the memory Voltage at 1.7-1.8 Volts and see if that helps and you should be using http://www.memtest.org to test the system. If it pass in memtest but you still have that problem that would suggest it may be some other problem.
Neuromaster
I have 2 x ATI Radeon HD 3870 in Crossfire and a Enermax Modu82+ 625W PSU. Could I have a power source problem ? At 1.7 - 1.8V Vista freezes very quickly and I get Memtest errors. 10x again for your attention.
DerekT
Two very possible events. If you were having data corruption issues due to lower voltages, then the corruption is still in the system and I would advise a fresh system install. Also, if you think that the power supply may be at issue, then remove a single video card and see if the issues repeat. You very likely have data corruption issues though and I would follow RAM GUYS advice to raise the DRAM voltage to 1.7v.
Neuromaster
Intersting discovery I let Memtest run for a week (lol that sounds desperate) and got no errors with this: Bios Version : 803 C1E = DisabledDRAM Voltage = 1.62 ( ram documentation says 1.70V , but this motherboard overclocks a bit)NB Voltage = 1.41 CPU Spread Spectrum = DisabledPCIE Spread Spectrum = Disabled Rest on Auto. But, while in Vista /Windows 7, with the same configuration the system freezes . So it must be an OS problem, probably a bad driver. FYI, all tests were done on clean installations. I installed 2 things. 1)Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility which according to the documentation handles this: - Core PCI and ISAPNP Services - PCIe Support - IDE/ATA33/ATA66/ATA100 Storage Support - SATA Storage Support - USB Support - Identification of Intel® Chipset Components in the Device Manager2)The JMicron SATA driver And until the moment of writing no problems occurred. P.S.If you don't know what driver version to install , this app will do all the work for you http://www.devicedoctor.com
