rbarlow
My computer originally had 2 x 1GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 5-5-5-12 and has an ASUS P5B motherboard. I bought 2 extra XMS2 to bring the total memory up to 4GB. After installing I got fatal Windows blue screen crashes. I used memtest to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with the hardware and they passed (when tested individually). I tried several things like re-installing the OS and flashing the BIOS to the latest version (2001) but still getting fatal errors. I only now realized I accidentally got 5-5-5-18 instead of 5-5-5-12. Is there anyway I can use the new RAM? What BIOS settings would I have to set (frequency, voltage, etc). Thanks. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 2, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 2, 2008 With 4 modules I would suggest setting the memory frequency at DDR667 and set the memory Voltage to 2.0 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.2 Volts as well and test the system with http://www.memtest.org. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
