Gateway 450ROG trouble

Hi, I have an old Gateway 450ROG and I finally decided to put additional RAM in it. I've never added RAM before but it looked simple enough (ha ha). Anyhow, I purchased a stick of VS512SDS333 but after installation I could not get the computer to boot up. I did a bit more checking and it looks like I should have bought VS512SDS266 instead. Can anybody set me straight? I had purchased the faster memory because I was under the impression that it would still work in my computer at the slower 266 mhz speed and it was more convenient to buy.

Thanks

Do to the IC/Chip configuration, your notebook will not support the Corsair VS512SDS333. The VS512SDS333 are built with x64 chips and the max your notebook will suport is x32 chips. I would recommend getting the VS512SDS266 to ensure compatibility.
