Baric
On Friday Sep 26 I finally received the RMA replacement for a set of TWIN2X2048-8500C5D. Only one DIMM in the original pair had gone bad, but I sent back both as requested. The replacement had one of the DIMM's loose in the packaging with inward bent heatsink fins on one end (ie. pinched together). And sure enough that DIMM looks to be bad, my system will not boot with it installed as the only DIMM, or in combination with any of the other 3. The system is using stock timings, no overclocking. Even at 800Mhz, no go. I jumped the mem voltage to 2.1v (printed on the stick), still no joy, but all the others work fine. I can't run tests since the system won't even boot with the DIMM in place. I then tried to gently separate the bent fins but that had no effect on things. One stick is bad, the other works like a champ. RMA was 1071599. What is the exact procedure for returning a bad part received as an RMA replacement?
Wired
Best thing to do is to call in and tell them what happened. They'll pay for the shipping if an RMA goes bad within 90 days I believe.

Baric
Yep all taken care of. Corsair is sending me another pair and I'm shipping the 1st replacement pair back on their dime. I must say, Corsair has been easy to deal with regards this RMA although I'm not thrilled that the replacement showed up damaged, but I guess accidents happen. Let's hope the new replacement arrives in good shape.
